過去,各國都在討論如何減少碳排放,如何減緩溫室效應,所以有些商店,餐廳開始標示碳足跡,但在這議題尚未解決前我們又必須正是另一項問題,那就是生命的根本珍貴的水資源.強烈地震來時,我們怕缺水勝過於停電,因為水,在我們生活中是多麼的不可或缺,所以現在,有人也開始重視起水足跡.除了水足跡,我們還有更多可以做的,有人開發新的科技或產品來過濾不可飲用的水,這是開源,而在日常生活當中我們可以做的,就是節流.你可以做的,絕不僅止於杯水車薪,特別是當每一個人都進行一樣的行動!

 

97.5% of the earth water is salty. And only 2.5% is freshwater. But over 2/3 of the freshwater is locked in the polar ice caps and glaciers. This leaves only 0.5% in our lakes, rivers and groundwater for agricultural, industrial and personal use. But due to water pollution, the quality of this water is under threat. According to the World Health Organization, only 0.007% of the water supply is safe for consumption. And this 0.007% of the water needs to be shared by more than 7 billion people on the planet. And this water is not distributed evenly throughout the world.

Do you know that the change of our eating habits are also a threat to our water resources? People nowadays tend to eat more meat. It takes 1,300 litres of water to produce 1 kilo of wheat. 3,400 litres of water for 1 kilo of rice. But 15,500 litres of water are required to produce 1 kilo of beef. To make sure we have enough clean water to drink in the rest of our living life, eating less meat is actually one possible way that can help! TOGETHER, we can do it!!
