每個人都會從Baby-->Puberty-->Teenager-->Adult-->The Elderly的階段

那動物們呢? 就像我們小時候會有暱稱(nickname)

動物們小時候也有專屬Nickname唷

Bear 熊--Cub

Cat 貓--Kitten

Cow 牛--Calf

Dog 狗--Puppy

Duck 鴨--Duckling

Elephant 大象--Calf

Frog 青蛙--Polliwog, Tadpole (蝌蚪)

Goose 鵝--Gosling

Hippo 河馬--Calf

Horse 馬--Foal

Kangaroo 袋鼠--Joey

Lion 獅子-Cub

Pig 豬--Piglet

Rabbit 兔子--Bunny

Rhino 犀牛--Calf

Shark 鯊魚-Cub

Sheep 綿羊--Lamb

Tiger 老虎--Cub

大家有發現嗎?很多大型動物小時候都直接叫Cub或Calf

根據Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

A cub means:

a :  a young carnivorous mammal (as a bear, fox, or lion)

b :  a young shark

A calf means:

a :  the young of the domestic cow; also :  that of a closely related mammal (as a bison)

b :  the young of various large animals (as the elephant or whale)

以後講到動物時，別用長輩字來形容年輕輩們了（OS: Hey, I am still young!!!

Next time, when you talk about young animals, choose the right words; or else….. LOL
